Franz (Frank) Farmacka

Born March 27, 1878 died May 20, 1935

Franz married Franziska  (grandma Farmacka ) Krystyn on ??? in Koberice in Opava, NE Czechoslovakia.

Franz Farmacka (30yr) and family: Franziska (28yr), Ludvik (Louis) (2yr), Antone (10 months), and two mules were originally from  Koberice in Opava, NE Czechoslovakia, in Moravia, which is on the Opava River and near the Polish border.  They departed the port of Bremen, Germany on October 1911 on the Hannover I.  They arrived in Galveston, TX on November 11, 1911.  Franz and family subsequently resided in San Gabriel, TX after immigration processing.

The Famacka family moved from Thorndale to Kingsville where they lived on 3 different farms.  While living in Kingsville, Frank did business with the Kleberg County Bank whose president, Robert Justus Kleberg, was their landowner.  Frank changed the spelling of the Farmack name adding the ‘a’.  Why?  Who knows but Charlie Farmacka said that there must be paperwork on file because Frank went to the bank to sign it for a name change.  Perhaps he wanted to correct a spelling error from the original immigration registration.

So, this is something the next person going to Kingsville may want to look for.

Frank Farmacka died in Banquete, TX (near Robstown) and was then buried in the King Ranch cemetery in Kingsville.  The boys were mowing a 10 acre field they had and Frank did not feel well at noon.  At about 2: p.m. he came down to the field where they were and about an hour later the boys brought the tractor back up to the shed.  Frank walked from the field and just as he got to the shed he fell.  Charlie, Andy, and Louis brought him to the house unconscious.  Frances felt of him and told the boys he was dead.  A doctor and an ambulance came out from Kingsville to take his body for burial.
